Nordhagen takes stage and GC lead in third stage of Giro della Regione Friuli Venezia Giulia

Jørgen Nordhagen secured a double victory in the third stage of the Giro della Regione Friuli Venezia Giulia. The young Norwegian from Team Visma | Lease a Bike Development proved to be the strongest in an exciting race, winning a sprint among three riders.

The 19-year-old Nordhagen, who will join the WorldTour team of Team Visma | Lease a Bike next year, proved stronger than Spain’s Pablo Torres and Italy’s Giulio Pellizzari in the final sprint. After the stage, Nordhagen hurried to the podium, where he was not only celebrated for his stage win but also received the leader’s jersey.

“I am more than satisfied with this victory,” Nordhagen said after his win. “We worked well together as a tight-knit team all day. I managed to stay patient and save some energy for the final climb. It was an incredible feeling to win the sprint, especially because I could reward the team's hard work.”

With Saturday’s final stage approaching, Nordhagen is well positioned in the general classification. The Norwegian holds a two-second lead over his closest rival, Pellizzari. “Of course, we are determined to take the leader’s jersey home. We’ll give it our all and hopefully achieve something special. First, I’ll enjoy this victory with the team, and then we’ll make a plan to finish this race successfully,” Nordhagen concluded with motivation.
