Vos looks forward to her return in Volta a Catalunya Femenina

After an absence of several weeks, Marianne Vos is set to make her comeback in the peloton on Friday. The Team Visma | Lease a Bike rider will line up with her team mates at the start of the Volta a Catalunya Femenina, where she will be back in action for the first time since the Vuelta a España.

Vos suffered a heavy crash in the opening stage of the Vuelta, breaking her collarbone in the process. Fuelled by adrenaline, she managed to finish the stage, but examinations at the hospital revealed she had sustained a fracture. "I was really looking forward to the Vuelta. The route really appealed to me and there were some great stages on the programme", she said.

"I felt pain straight away after the crash. I hoped it wasn’t too bad, but after the stage it soon became clear that something wasn’t right and, unfortunately, I had to go home." Following a successful operation, Vos was able to begin her recovery. She travelled to Mallorca to complete a training block.

"I’m looking forward to pinning on my race number again."

"I was able to train well in Mallorca. Over the past six months I’ve had little continuity, so I had to start building up from the basics. Fortunately, it felt a bit better every day", says Vos, who is ready to make her comeback in Catalonia. "I’m looking forward to pinning on my race number again."

She finds it difficult to predict exactly how she’ll perform. "After a long period without races, you never know how it will feel to be racing again. That’s why my main aim is to get back into the rhythm of competition. When will I be satisfied? When I feel that my form is improving and we’ve been able to show, as a team, what we’re capable of. Because, as a team, we want to go for the best possible result."
