Van Aert keeps leader’s jersey heading into Tour of Denmark finale
Team Visma | Lease a Bike has successfully completed the fourth stage of the PostNord Tour of Denmark. Wout van Aert defended his blue leader’s jersey and also retained the green points jersey. The stage victory went to Storm Ingebrigtsen of Uno-X Mobility, who held off the chasing group to the finish line with the breakaway.
“The main goal today was to secure our position in the general classification,” Van Aert said after the stage. “It was a hard-fought race where we had to stay alert and keep control of the situation. It was up to the other teams to try and fight for the stage win, but in the end the breakaway proved to be the strongest today.”
"Tomorrow, the most important task is to bring the leader’s jersey home."
Looking ahead to the final stage, Van Aert remains fully focused on the overall standings. “Tomorrow, the most important task is to bring the leader’s jersey home. That is what we are focused on. Christophe is one of my best friends. It would be nice to stand on the podium together tomorrow. We will try to make that happen.”
The 172.5-kilometer stage from Rudkøbing to Faaborg was the penultimate stage of this year’s Tour of Denmark. Although the course was less demanding than Friday’s queen stage, the local circuit and short climbs still created a challenging finale.
