"Coming into the finale, the plan was actually to move up on the right side, but we eventually had to switch to the left. We adapted well to that," Brennan said afterwards. "It was important to be well positioned with the final corners coming up. The guys did an excellent job there."

"In the last 400 meters, I maybe slipped a little too far back, which was a bit risky. I was lucky to find the space again to open up my sprint. I trusted my legs, and it worked out well."

After yesterday’s tough mountain stage, the sprinters had another opportunity today. Stage 4 was expected to be the biggest chance for the fast finishers, although the rolling terrain meant it was far from an easy day. An early breakaway of three riders got away, but the peloton kept the situation under control and brought them back before the finale.

In the final kilometers, Team Visma | Lease a Bike positioned itself well for the sprint. Brennan perfectly finished off the strong work of his teammates and powered to victory. The Brit had to deal with challenging conditions along the way, with temperatures reaching 39 degrees in Burgos.
"I was slowly roasting from the inside out," Brennan laughed. "I’m glad I could finish it off in the end because it was a tough day in the heat. It felt like we were riding through a desert all day. But it has already been a great week with the guys on the team."

Sports director Maarten Wynants was especially pleased with the way the team executed the finale. "Everything we planned worked out nicely. It is a very young team that delivered the lead-out. Steven Kruijswijk also did a lot of work on the front, which allowed us to save Tim Rex a little longer and meant he could do crucial work in the finale."

"It is a great combination of riders who are doing more than we hoped for beforehand. That allowed us to finish the finale off in a really good way."

With this victory, Brennan continues his strong run and takes his second stage win at the Vuelta a Burgos. Team Visma | Lease a Bike also remains in the fight for a strong overall result with Ben Tulett. He finished 20th today and maintains his seventh place in the general classification. With one stage remaining, the team now looks ahead to the final day, where the Brit will fight to defend his position.
