Tulett Remains in top ten overall after tough mountain stage at Vuelta a Burgos
Stage 3 of the Vuelta a Burgos provided the first real test for the general classification contenders. The race was decided on the Puerto del Escudo, a 7-kilometer climb averaging 9 percent. Ben Tulett crossed the line in 11th place as part of the group just behind the main favorites. Felix Gall proved to be the strongest on the day, riding solo to victory.
"The weather at the top was really bad," sports director Maarten Wynants reflected afterwards. "Matthew delivered Ben perfectly to the foot of the final climb. Fortunately, Ben felt stronger today than he did yesterday. He rode a strong climb in the first larger group behind the main favorites and finished 11th."
With two stages still to come, Team Visma | Lease a Bike remains well placed heading into the final days of the race. Tulett now sits seventh in the general classification, 49 seconds behind the race leader. "Tomorrow, we'll go back on the attack with Matthew," Wynants concluded.
